|Dear Rashi Families,|
Being Jewish in the world is an act of courage, particularly in moments like this one. We at Rashi stand with you in solidarity. I feel particularly the blessings of our common purpose and shared values.
As the Jewish independent school of Greater Boston, we take seriously our responsibility to create an environment that arises from our shared values, an environment in which students grow in knowledge, skill, spirit, and wisdom, an environment in which students develop their sense of self and of community and practice daily the values that make for a joyful, proud Jewish life.
The current situation in Israel is on the minds of many of our students. Older students had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Rachel Fish, Founding Executive Director of the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism, and we here share Rachel’s podcast on Vibe of the Tribe (Tools for Articulating Your Support for Israel Under Fire) over the weekend, as well as related links from CJP/ Jewish Teen Initiative. It is our intention to provide resources to help support relevant, age appropriate conversation in your home as well as at school.
While we particularly focus our thoughts and prayers on people in Israel, we seek a world of peace and safety for all people. In closing, we share the Birkhat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing) which is found in this week’s parasha (Torah Portion):
May God bless you and protect you.
May God’s light shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May God’s presence be lifted up to yours and may God grant you peace.
Adam W. Fischer
Head of The Rashi School
